Executive Director (Part-time, 32 average hours/week) 

About the Organization 

The Saint Louis Track Club (SLTC) promotes an engaged community for runners and walkers of all abilities. We do this by cultivating our member network; organizing and producing events and programs that meet the needs of our members and the running/walking community; partnering with local youth, health-oriented, and community running programs; and mobilizing our members and volunteers in support of our mission. Founded in 1970, the SLTC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 

Position Summary 

The Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and is responsible for the overall leadership and management of the Club’s mission, events and financial objectives. 

The Executive Director responsibilities include: 

Strategic Leadership 

● Along with the Board of Directors, provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to advance the mission and objectives of the organization. 

● Ensure that the organization’s long-range strategy achieves its mission, and toward which it makes consistent and timely progress. 

● Provide leadership in developing programs/events, organizational and financial plans with the Board of Directors, and carry out plans and policies authorized by the board.

● Work closely with the Board of Directors to provide regular updates, collaborate on strategic initiatives, and ensure alignment with organizational goals. 

● Oversee Club operations, including day-to-day operations, race planning/race execution and other event logistics, and administrative tasks to ensure smooth functioning of the organization. 

● Oversee Club marketing and communication, including the development and implementation of effective marketing strategies, branding initiatives, and communication campaigns. 

 

Fundraising and Development 

● Develop relationships with community organizations and businesses in order to cultivate sponsorships and to raise funds. 

● Represent the Club in all of its activities and events. 

● Develop and execute ambitious fundraising plans, meeting or exceeding revenue targets. 

● Lead membership and sponsorship initiatives, fostering positive donor relationships

. ● Manage the organization's budget, finances, and fundraising efforts to ensure sustainability and growth. Along with the board, ensure that the organization operates within budget guidelines. 

● Ensure that adequate funds are available to permit the organization to carry out its work. 

 

Board Cultivation and Cohesiveness 

Serve as staff liaison to the Board of Directors. 

Attend all Board meetings and prepare the agenda in consultation with and at the direction of the President. 

Provide the Board of Directors with recommendations and see that they are fully informed on the condition of the organization. 

Identify and recruit skilled and dedicated board members, facilitating orientation and ongoing development, and cultivating a culture of open communication and mutual respect. 

 

Qualifications 

● Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Sports Management, etc). Advanced degree preferred. 

● Commitment to the mission and values of the Saint Louis Track Club. 

● Previous experience in nonprofit management, leadership, or executive roles, with a proven track record of success. 

● Knowledge of the running or sports industry is preferred. 

● Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. 

● Perform tasks that require bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods. 

● Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Ability to drive the agency truck. 

 

Schedule and Compensation 

This is a part-time position, approximately 32 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling. Some weeknight and weekend hours required based on the schedule of race-related events. Compensation is $60,000-$70,000 annually with opportunities for growth through enhanced fundraising.
